From the 2017 KCAL Old Time Radio Troupe Summer Spectacular show performed July 7-9, 2017. This is an episode of the old-time radio show "Dragnet". The episode that is reproduced is "The Big Cat" and originally aired on June 15, 1954. Featured in this episode are KCAL troupe members Norman Cline as Frank Smith, Doug Fain as Joe Friday, David Damron as Clarence Havill and Sidney Norton and Denise Cline as Lillian Havill. We have attempted to make this sound just like it would have back in 1954 on a vintage radio set including the quality of the sound.

From the 2017 KCAL Old Time Radio Troupe's "A Hometown Christmas" show performed December 8, 9, and 10. This is an episode called "ChristmasTiME in Nicholasville" written by cast member David Damron. The story, based on Dickens "A Christmas Carol" takes place in 1952 at the Ben Franklin store that sat in Downtown Nicholasville, Kentucky. Featured in this episode, in order of appearance, are KCAL troupe members Doug Fain as Cres Criner, Susan Clements as Mildred Criner, David Damron as Charlie Esposito of WNVL Radio, Denise Cline as Mary, Carolyn Threlkeld as Jenny, Norman Cline as Mike, Connie McDonald as her grandmother Renlyn Foley, Steve Watts as his father Letch Watts, Buddy Teater as his father Bob Teater, Larette Blackford as Betty, Billy Holland as the Ghost and Eddie Clements on sound effects. The names and places you hear referenced were real although we did have to embellish their personalities a bit (Mr. Criner really was a nice fellow but we had to have someone play Scrooge!) We have attempted to make this sound just like it would have back in 1952 on a vintage radio set including the quality of the sound. From the 2017 KCAL Old Time Radio Troupe "A Hometown Christmas " show performed December 8, 9, and 10. This is an episode of the old time radio show "My Favorite Husband" which starred Lucille Ball and Richard Denny. This radio show was the inspiration for the "I Love Lucy" television show. The episode that is reproduced is "Christmas Present" and originally aired December 16, 1949. Featured in this episode are KCAL troupe members Denise Cline as Liz, Norman Cline as George, Carolyn Threlkeld as Katie, Connie McDonald as Mother Copper, Doug Fain as the Store Clerk and Buddy Teater as the announcer, Eddie Clements on sound effects and David Damron running sound and lights. We hav attempted to make this sound just like it would have back in 1949 on a vintage radio set including the quality of the sound.

A special treat for you that we might do ever so often.....Here is the audio from our live show that took place on April 21-23, 2017 at the Polvino Art Center in Nicholasville. We performed the classic show "My Favorite Wife" which aired in 1950 and starred Cary Grant and Irene Dunne. Our next live show will be July 7-9, 2017 and is called " A Night of Magic". It will feature a comedy and a detective story. Our troupe will recreate the shows like they would have been performed at an old-time radio station back in the 40s and 50s with our own KCAL twists. This time we have two short programs in our show. The first is called "Curtains!" and was a short skit that was featured in an episode of the Royal Gelatin Hour starring Rudy Vallee and it aired February 18, 1937. Featured in this episode is Carolyn Threlkeld, David Damron and Denise Cline. The second part of the program is an episode of The Bickersons, a comedy starring Don Ameche and Frances Langford...this particular episode was called "Valentine's Day" and aired on February 13, 1948. In this episode you will hear Denise Cline, Norman Cline, Carolyn Threlkeld and Doug Fain.
